Job Description

Working closely with Team Leaders and operational stakeholders, the Operational Trainer supports the development of internal talent, contributes to the successful mobilisation of new contracts, and drives consistency through structured training and quality frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Training Design & Delivery

1. Develop, implement, and maintain engaging training materials tailored to operational roles within facilities maintenance.
2. Deliver training sessions (in-person and virtual) to new starters and existing employees.
3. Ensure all training content reflects current processes, compliance requirements, and business standards.

Operational Development

4. Partner with Team Leaders to identify skill gaps and support the development of internal agents and operatives.
5. Create and maintain a comprehensive skills matrix to track competencies, certifications, and development needs across teams.
6. Support succession planning and career progression pathways through structured learning programs.

Mobilisation Support

7. Assist in the mobilisation of new contracts by contributing to design and delivering onboarding training and ensuring operational readiness.
8. Work with key stakeholders (internal and external) to understand contract-specific requirements and translate them into training solutions.

Process Improvement & Updates

9. Support the rollout of new processes, systems, and ways of working across the business.
10. Regularly review and update training materials to align with operational and process changes.
11. Act as a key link between operations and the Business Improvement Team to ensure consistent implementation.

Quality & Compliance

12. Support internal quality initiatives by reinforcing standards through training and coaching.
13. Assist in audits and quality checks by ensuring teams are trained and compliant with procedures.
14. Monitor training effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and performance data.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

15. Experience in a training, coaching, or learning & development role (ideally within facilities maintenance or a similar operational environment).
16. Strong understanding of operational processes and service delivery models.
17. Ability to design clear, engaging, and effective training materials.
18. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
19. Experience supporting change initiatives and process improvements.
20. Analytical mindset with experience in tracking performance and skills development (e.g. skills matrix).
21. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
