Major Rail Projects Analysis supports major UK rail programmes including HS2, Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) and East West Rail. As a Grade 7 Economist, you’ll shape NPR’s development on a high‑profile, multi‑billion‑pound programme improving connectivity, growth and sustainability across the North. You’ll join a 25‑strong, multidisciplinary, friendly and inclusive team of analysts, with flexible and hybrid working across regional offices. Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to: Leading the development of NPR business cases, ensuring robust economic analysis underpins key decisions and aligns with HM Treasury Green Book and DfT’s Transport Analysis Guidance (TAG). Providing economic appraisal and value-for-money assessments for complex options, including station choices, phasing and network configurations, to support ministerial and senior decision-making.
