Our client is a national, family-run organization that has been established and trading successfully for over 50 years. They have built a strong brand and a regular customer base within their industry. They are very successful and are now looking to hire a Plant Fitter to join their Engineering Team.
Your responsibilities as a Plant Fitter:
1. Carry out fault diagnosis and repair of manual handling equipment, and maintain and inspect all plant equipment.
2. Ensure servicing schedules are followed according to manufacturers' specifications.
3. Inspect and service all vehicles, plant, and equipment.
4. Conduct plant safety inspections in line with group fleet policy.
5. Maintain, prepare, and present vehicles for annual LOLER testing.
6. Perform duties safely, adhering to QHSE obligations under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, and follow safe working practices.
7. Report unsafe acts, hazards, or defective equipment to your safety advisor and maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications and skills required:
1. City & Guilds Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
2. Experience with heavy plant machinery such as loading shovels, forklift trucks, 360 excavators, cherry pickers.
3. Proven experience with diesel engines, gearboxes, braking systems, and generators.
4. Skills in pneumatic, welding, hydraulics, and electrical motors.
5. Basic personal engineering toolkit (spanners, sockets, screwdrivers, etc.).
6. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
7. Flexible approach and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
8. Proven track record in welding and fabrication.
9. Good communication skills.
Salary & Benefits:
1. Flexible shift pattern: 6 am to 3 pm or 3 pm to 1 am, Monday to Friday, plus 2 Saturdays each month.
2. Pay £23-25 per hour + overtime.
