About the Role:
Shropshire Children's Services are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the UASC & 16+ Pathways Team. This role focuses on supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and vulnerable 16+ young people, delivering high-quality care, safeguarding, and personalised support. The role is ideal for a social worker with experience in child protection, trauma-informed practice, and complex adolescent needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of UASC and 16+ young people, predominantly in Shropshire with occasional West Midlands travel.
Conduct robust assessments, risk analysis, and care planning to safeguard and support young people.
Work with vulnerable, dysregulated, and trauma-affected adolescents, applying conflict resolution and positive engagement techniques.
Undertake return home interviews and build trusting relationships with young people.
Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and ensure compliance with statutory guidelines.
Maintain accurate and timely case records within statutory timescales.
Apply knowledge of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), safeguarding legislation, and statutory frameworks.Essential Skills & Experience:
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
Experience working with UASC, 16+ pathways, or vulnerable adolescents.
Strong skills in assessment, care planning, and risk management.
Knowledge of child protection processes, CSE, and statutory guidance.
