We have secured recent investment into pharmacy and are now expanding our technical services team. This post would suit pharmacists at a stage in their career where they are ready for the next step who seek a blend of technical and clinical services.
Due to recent expansion within the Pharmacy & Medicines Directorate we are now recruiting for a Deputy Accountable Pharmacist (AP) to join our technical services team. You will work as part of our Aseptic team providing services within the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. This post will also work with the cancer services team providing clinical services to both in-patient and outpatient haematology and oncology patients. The approximate spilt of the role will be 60/40, Aseptic Services/Cancer Services.
This post will be patient-centred and will give you the opportunity to develop your technical and clinical skills and undertake specialist projects under direction of the AP.
You will receive support from a designated mentor, and the wider pharmacy team, as well as peer support from other specialist and senior pharmacists. Successful applicants will be supported to complete PTQA (Pharmaceutical & Technology Quality Assurance) Diploma/MSc.
The NHS Fife Pharmacy Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. It serves a population of approximately 380,000 people, and is provided by an integrated team of around 300 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. The team work across Acute and Community hospital sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife.
There are opportunities to become involved in a range of projects across the integrated Pharmacy service as well as shaping the future vision for the service. As part of our staff engagement and leadership, our Pharmacy Senior Leadership hold monthly staff briefing sessions to update the team on new developments, celebrate achievements and to hear ideas from our staff.
Fife has something to offer everyone and getting to and around Fife is simple, with excellent public transport links from around the UK. This fabulous region is not far from Scotland’s major cities, with Edinburgh just to the south, Dundee and Perth to the north, and Glasgow to the south west.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
