This permanent Consultant Psychiatrist position (37.5 hours per week) offers the opportunity to join the established multidisciplinary team at Spring Wood Lodge. The service has 21 beds across two wards in a locked rehabilitation setting, providing treatment for women with mental disorders including personality disorders. The wards are well supported by a full multidisciplinary team.
You will act as a Consultant / Responsible Clinician for patients in this setting. Candidates should have CCT in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry and experience of leading multidisciplinary teams. The environment focuses on rehabilitation, utilizing positive behavioral support principles and empowering service users in their recovery.
Spring Wood Lodge is located on the outskirts of Leeds at Guiseley, with close links to NHS services and established care pathways. It has excellent transport links to Bradford, Leeds, and is within a short distance of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Your responsibilities will include:
1. Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews, and developing a therapeutic milieu.
2. Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
3. Providing psychiatric perspectives to the multidisciplinary team regarding assessment, formulation, and treatment of patients.
4. Contributing to management and clinical governance meetings and service strategy development.
5. Participating in in-house training programs and supervising other team members, particularly junior medical staff.
6. Maintaining CPD and re-validation requirements as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists or relevant statutory bodies.
To be successful, you will:
1. Be medically qualified, with MRC Psych or equivalent.
2. Be innovative, imaginative, and capable of initiating corporate decisions.
3. Have a solid understanding of current developments in psychiatry and mental health.
4. Possess knowledge of change management, relevant legislation, and contemporary mental health issues, including contractual issues in healthcare.
5. Have previous experience in a management role as a Consultant.
