Functional Safety Engineer
Based at the Ellesmere Port High Temperature Incinerator, the Functional Safety Engineer ensures a robust functional safety management system is in place to achieve compliance. The role provides expertise and direction to the development of functional safety management across the wider business and supports EC&I technical support to site projects.
Responsibilities
* Support COMAH activities including intervention visits and safety report development.
* Support long‑term hazardous waste functional safety improvement.
* Serve as the Veolia functional safety subject matter expert.
* Ensure audits cover all aspects of functional safety.
* Develop and collaborate with other internal functions on asset strategies.
* Support functional safety/process safety competency development.
* Support hazard studies as required (PHA/HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA).
Qualifications
* Experience managing the functional safety lifecycle for safety instrumented systems.
* Recognised TUV Functional Safety Engineer.
* Experience leading hazard identification and risk assessment (PHA/HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA).
* Experience working with COMAH sites.
* Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels.
* Motivated to drive improvements within the business to achieve a proactive culture.
Employment Details
Location: Ellesmere Port
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: Up to £73,000 per annum, plus annual performance bonus, company car or car allowance, private medical and pension.
