Job Introduction
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist – Assessor to join our team. The role offers a salary of £40–45k, with office hours at home and travel for face-to-face assessments. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete desk-based and face-to-face assessments of referred individuals for support.
* Ensure an APIE approach—Assessing, Planning, Implementing, and Evaluating.
* Review reports and evidence outcome measures to inform clinical practice, business performance, and quality measures. Maintain continuous professional development and produce your CPD folder upon request.
* Identify and mitigate complex risks within a community setting.
* Review pre-admission assessments promptly and professionally.
* Produce clinically informed assessments with robust risk assessments and mitigation measures.
* Identify measures to enable individuals through positive support.
* Attend internal and external MDT meetings to inform assessments and risk mitigation strategies.
* Build professional working relationships.
* Manage time effectively.
* Maintain accurate, safe, and contemporaneous records, working collaboratively with stakeholders and external professionals.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Registered RMN / RNLD / OT
* Experience assessing and working with individuals with complex needs related to mental health, learning disabilities, ABI, personality disorders, autism, and forensic backgrounds.
* Understanding of continuing healthcare or transition processes from hospital/residential to community settings, with a solutions-focused approach.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, CTOs, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and Best Interests Decision-making.
* Expertise in risk assessment and management, with strong communication, report writing, and computer skills. Ability to work under pressure.
* Willingness to travel for face-to-face assessments within an agreed geographical area.
* Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
