Our story
Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was established on 1 February 2011 when Monitor, the independent regulator of health services in England, authorised Derbyshire Mental Health Services NHS Trust to become a Foundation Trust .
In April 2011 we became the provider of childrens universal and specialist services for Derby city following a successful tender process.
As part of the Transforming Community Services (TCS) programme, community paediatric services and substance misuse services were also transferred into the organisation from NHS Derby City.

Job Overview
We are looking for a Mental Health Practitioner withexpertisein assessment and development of robust pathways for people across all vulnerabilities, including substance misuse, Intellectual Difficulties, Neurodiversity, children, and young people who have contact with the criminal justice process through a Police Voluntary Interview / attendance.
This vulnerable cohortrequirethe same level of service and support as is beingprovidedfor those detained in Police Custody for signposting and diversion options.
Please note, this post will require Police Vetting
It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager this is possible before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract.
Advert
To screen and offer a mental health and all vulnerability assessment people who attend a Police Voluntary Interview and identify a robust care pathway and provide advice to Police regarding any potential vulnerability identified.
Attend police custody suites and magistrates courts and provide mental health assessments, advice and identify robust care pathways, for individuals where a potential mental health and or learning disability need has been identified.
To provide the police and court with written information pertaining to the individual in a timely fashion to inform disposal. To work closely and build links with all referring agencies within the Police, court and probation acting as a single point of contact for health.
To refer to the appropriate team within DHCFT community mental health teams. To make recommendation to Police, the Crown Prosecution Service or court, whether the criminal justice system remains involved ,or diversion is indicated.
To build a good working knowledge of the mental health act in relation to the police, courts and the criminal justice system. Where diversion is indicated, to facilitate mental health act assessments at the police station or court in conjunction with the DHCFT assessment teams.

* A professional qualification at degree level or equivalent in either mental health nursing, learning disability nursing, substance misuse or social work
* Hold current registration with pertinent body
