Research Finance Officer (RFO)
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Research Finance Officer within the Finance Directorate at The University of Manchester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the financial management of research awards, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and high-quality service delivery in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the delivery of post-award financial management across a portfolio of research grants
* Producing accurate financial reports, monitoring budgets, and providing forecasting support to Principal Investigators
* Ensuring compliance with funder terms and conditions, including financial reporting and audit requirements
* Acting as a key contact for stakeholders, providing advice and resolving queries across research finance activities
* Supporting financial processes including invoicing, claims, debtor management, and risk monitoring
About You

Essential Criteria
* AAT Level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience)
* Experience working in a finance or accounting environment
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
* Good IT skills, including intermediate Excel skills
* Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Desirable Criteria
* Experience using finance systems such as Oracle Financials
* Experience working in Higher Education or research funding environments
* Working towards AAT Level 3 or 4 qualification
* Experience supporting financial reporting or grant management
* Strong customer service experience in a professional environment
