Job Description:
Overview
PURPOSE & IMPACT: This role involves managing due diligence for certification related to EU deforestation regulations, which will come into effect at the end of 2025. These regulations require creating linked certificates across the supply chain (blockchain) to demonstrate compliance. Certificates will be uploaded to a central EU database and serve as defense if challenged by authorities in any EU market.
We seek a self-motivated individual with experience in technical data systems, capable of liaising professionally with suppliers and customers, meeting tight deadlines, and creating documentation and process standards for smooth implementation.
Responsibilities
Certificate management and administration
This role will lead access to the EU deforestation certification database via the EU TRACES system. It will create linked certificates throughout the supply chain and identify non-compliant materials, focusing on compliance by the end of 2025. The prioritization will be based on risk from supply countries, with the ability to assess this risk as part of the certification process.
The role will also involve creating, managing, and updating an internal database on derivative materials to ensure due diligence outside of certification.
The incumbent will maintain communication with suppliers and customers regarding compliance with certificate requirements and work closely with regulatory and sustainability teams to prevent breaches of restricted materials. Additionally, the role includes invoice processing within SAP for the Supplier Assurance/Regulatory team and data management.
Standards and process development
The role will establish protocols for ongoing certification management and annual reviews based on risk, including work instructions and maintaining an internal list of certificates and due diligence records.
It will also prioritize audits for certified and due diligence materials based on supply chain risk, without conducting audits personally.
Reporting
The role will provide periodic compliance and progress updates to management, ensuring clarity and efficiency.
