The Role

We are seeking a resilient, patient, and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, alongside additional learning and communication difficulties.

You will play a key role in creating a safe, structured learning environment while supporting pupils both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Assist with the delivery of tailored learning activities
• Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using consistent approaches
• Build positive relationships with pupils to support engagement and trust
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development
• Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
• Contribute to EHCP targets and individual learning plans
• Promote independence, communication, and life skills
• Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with SEMH, behavioural needs, or complex learners (essential)
• Alternatively, strong behaviour management experience in education or care settings
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships
• Team player with a proactive attitude
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
• Enhanced DBS on the update service - or willing to obtain one
