NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) Laundry Service is offering an exciting apprenticeship opportunity within the Laundry Engineering Department. The apprenticeship is set to be a -year working maintenance engineering role, with the successful candidate working alongside our vastly experienced engineering team, who will share their expertise in Laundry Operational Engineering. The role will be paid under NHS annex terms:
Up to months prior to completion of training: per cent of the pay
band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
(ii) more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training:
per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate;
(iii) more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training:
per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate;
(iv) more than three years from completion of training: per cent of the
pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The Laundry Engineering Apprentice will be working towards our single skilled maintenance technician JD with the option to qualify multiskilled in their final year of apprenticeship. The Apprentice will work as a member of the Laundry Engineering Team engaged on repair, maintenance and installations to Laundry Service premises and Laundry Equipment. They will be responsible for undertaking basic level maintenance tasks (planned and reactive) across the whole service range, whilst undertaking a multi skilled training programme.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The Laundry Engineering Apprentice will be given day release to study a technical certificate, delivered at their designated local colleges throughout the apprenticeship. Skills will be taught through a combination of workplace and college-based learning.
The apprenticeship consists of a practical learning experience, combined with mentorship guidance, working towards achieving a HNC Qualification and practical workplace skills.
