Job Description
OBJECTIVE:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment in accordance with safety protocols and production schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Perform basic and complex mechanical repairs to extrusion, molding, and auxiliary equipment.
* Read and comprehend mechanical prints to install new equipment and to diagnose and repair existing equipment.
* Perform installation and repair on hydraulic systems, using technical manuals and prints.
* Install and repair pneumatics on equipment and building systems.
* Perform electrical and electronic repairs to extrusion and molding equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
* Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment including inspection, lubrication, and repair of identified problems.
* Install and repair automated machinery and equipment such as robots and programmable controllers.
* Complete daily work orders accurately and promptly.
* Mentor subordinate technicians to help them achieve level A technician status.
* Handle hazardous waste and perform water sampling in accordance with company guidelines and OSHA regulations.
* Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
* Participate in Emergency Response Team activities, responding to emergencies per established procedures.

None
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, high noise levels, and high heat conditions. The environment is not temperature-controlled.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, handle objects, reach, and occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl. Must frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
TRAVEL:
* Semi-frequent short-distance and infrequent long-distance travel may be required.
* Travel between Meteor Creative facilities may be necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* High school diploma or GED; an associate degree, trade school, or apprenticeship is preferred.
* Understanding of maintenance and reliability in manufacturing.
* At least 3 years of experience with electrical systems and programmable logic controls.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
* Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs; B&R PLC experience is a plus.
* Knowledge of control and safety systems and connectivity protocols.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
