The principal role of the HSEQ Lead is to ensure health, safety, environmental, fire and quality compliance across the organisation. The HSEQ Lead will promote a positive culture at all times, whilst creating relationships and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Deliver improvements and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all employees and external stakeholders. Identifying gaps, leading on projects and working with the Head of HSEQ to foster a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation. Key aims and Objectives Risk Management: Creating and maintaining a solid HSEQ framework and management system to protect employees and third parties from harm, ensuring legislative compliance. Culture: Implementing a learning culture. We do not have a ‘no blame’ culture. We have a ‘Learning culture’. In the event of non-compliance, an incident or accident, we identify ways to learn, improve and protect. Collaboration: We work better together. Fostering excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Providing support, advice and guidance, whilst holding stakeholders to account. Key Duties Safe Systems of Work • Create, write and develop health, safety, environmental, fire and quality policies as agreed with the Head of HSEQ. • Write risk assessments, method statements and other safe systems of work. • Complete work related to CDM e.g. Construction Phase Plans, F10’s etc. • Lead and be responsible for projects that have been delegated by the Head of HSEQ. • Conduct on-site H&S inspections both planned and unplanned. • Complete internal audits on departments annually to improve on HSEQ practices. Internal audits will include gap analysis reporting and recommendations. • Work with stakeholders to close gaps and implement improvements following internal audits. • Complete DSE Assessments for employees when necessary. Accident/Incident Management • Record accidents, incidents and near misses. • Collate weekly accident statistics and identify trends. • Ensure RIDDORs are completed when required as per Regulations. • In the event of a health and safety incident investigation, conduct and lead investigations and ensure that a full report is written, and findings and recommendations are communicated and/or support the Head of HSEQ when required during an investigation. • Ensure that root causes are identified and improvements are made to prevent reoccurrence. • Support the Head of HSEQ with enforcing agencies if required e.g. HSE, Environment Agency, Fire Service. Management Systems • Assist the Head of HSEQ with accreditations and ISO systems and audits where required. • Lead on accreditations including ISO, Safecontractor, Achilles etc. where required. • Maintain the HSEQ Management system and keep SharePoint, E20 and other relevant systems up to date. • Support delivery partner on-boarding. Ensuring only competent, suitable contractors are working for the company. • Work with the Network Assurance and Quality team on document version control. Training • Create, health, safety and fire training to internal & external stakeholders • Identify training needs for departments and roles within the organisation. • Create and deliver toolbox talks to stakeholders where required. • Hold briefings to departments and teams on HSEQ. • Advocate a safe working culture continuously through methods such as forums and learning events • Liaise and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders. General • Frequent nationwide travel for work duties. • Provide report & feedback to stakeholders. • Intervene in correcting unsafe work practices. • Work with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver effective and efficient solutions to health, safety, environment, fire and quality problems. • Chair meetings and forums. • Have a duty to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and that of others. This implies taking positive steps to understand the hazards in the workplace. • Champion continuous improvements to safety performance throughout the business • Be visible throughout all areas and departments at Full Fibre. • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested. Occasional Duties • Be responsible for HSEQ when the Head of HSEQ is unavailable.
