Offer description

About Redbourn Park Redbourn Park is a specialist organisation supporting children and young people with complex needs, particularly autism, trauma, and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.
We exist for pupils who have often struggled elsewhere and need more than standard education can offer.
Our work brings together education, therapy, care, and leadership under one clear purpose: to create safe, consistent environments where children can regulate, learn, and succeed.
We are values-driven, relational in our approach, and uncompromising on standards.
Empathy matters herebut so does accountability, structure, and doing what we say we will do.
Everyone at Redbourn Park, regardless of role, shares responsibility for modelling calm, professionalism, and ambition.
We believe people thrive when expectations are clear, relationships are strong, and purpose is sharedand that belief shapes how we work with pupils, families, and each other every day.
About the Role The Consultant Speech and Language Therapist acts as the clinical architect of the schools communication strategy, overseeing complex assessments and ensuring that therapeutic interventions are legally compliant and clinically sound.
The role is essential because it bridges the gap between high-level clinical expertise and daily classroom practice, providing the specialist supervision and evidence-based direction needed to support children with the most complex communication and trauma-related needs.
Communication is often the primary barrier to safety and learning; without a Consultant SLT, the school lacks the specialised "diagnostic lens" required to distinguish between developmental delays, neurodivergent communication styles, and trauma-based mutism.
This role ensures that every childs Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is accurately delivered and that the staff are empowered with the skills to support a Total Communication environment.
Ensuring all therapy delivered by assistants and teachers meets professional standards and legal EHCP requirements.
