Specialist Cleaning Lead (Nuclear / RCC‑M) – Hinkley Point C (HPC)
Location: Bridgwater, Somerset (HPC – site based)
Salary: from £75,000 + Car Allowance + Travel & Lodge Allowance + 8.65% Project Bonus
Type: Full-time | Rota: 9‑day fortnight (subject to change) | Start: ASAP (subject to vetting)
The Opportunity
We’re recruiting a Specialist Cleaning Lead to establish and lead a high-compliance specialist cleaning service on Hinkley Point C (HPC)—one of the UK’s flagship nuclear construction programmes. This senior operational role is responsible for delivering RCC‑M nuclear cleanliness standards across active construction areas, ensuring safe, consistent delivery with audit-ready documentation.
Given the regulated nature of HPC, applicants should have a track record in cleanroom, GMP, nuclear or similarly controlled environments where cleanliness standards, inspections and formal documentation are non-negotiable.
Responsibilities:
* Establish and lead a specialist cleaning service aligned to RCC‑M nuclear cleanliness requirements
* Own the overall management of specialist cleaning delivery across designated HPC construction areas
* Develop, implement and maintain formal documentation, including:
* SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
* RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
* Quality/compliance records and operational controls suitable for regulated environments
* Carry out regular inspections to identify recurring issues, unusual requirements, or non-conformances
* Coordinate multiple teams across separate work areas, ensuring consistent standards and performance
* Work collaboratively with the client and on-site workstream leads to deliver the agreed strategy
* Deliver resourcing, recruitment, onboarding and training plans to build a capable, compliant team
* Produce data-led reporting (KPIs, compliance, performance, resource and productivity metrics)
* Authorise and approve planned procurement of consumables and equipment
* Ensure robust HSE compliance, including incident readiness, investigation, and reporting
* Lead safety culture initiatives including safety stand-downs where appropriate
* People leadership: performance reviews, absence management, HR/IR awareness and disciplinary processes (where required)
* Ensure direct reports understand responsibilities and consistently deliver to the required standard
Essential:
* Proven leadership experience in regulated / high-compliance environments with controlled cleanliness standards
* Ability to lead with integrity, inclusivity, accountability and continuous improvement
* Strong organisational capability and confidence producing formal documentation and plans
* Comfortable managing fast-moving operations with competing priorities and multiple stakeholders
* Excellent written, verbal and IT skills
* Valid passport
* CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test (Manager & Professional level)
Desirable:
-Experience in nuclear or comparable high-control sectors (e.g., pharma/biotech, medical devices, sterile manufacturing, laboratories)
-Working knowledge of COSHH
-NEBOSH (or equivalent)
-SMSTS (or similar construction qualification)
-Driving licence
-Higher education certificate / degree
Site & Vetting Requirements
- Able to provide a 3-year work history to support vetting
- Able to obtain the required HPC site access pass
- Site-based role on a 9-day fortnight rota (subject to change)
