Esth Trust Band 5 Estates Mechanical Technician
ESTH Trust are looking for Band 5 Estates Mechanical Technicians to work in the Property Estates team. This role will be based at St Helier Hospital but the successful candidate may be asked to work across Epsom, St Helier, Sutton and Surrey Downs.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of Calorifiers, Heat Exchangers, pumpsets and other mechanical systems across the Trust.
* Fault find on complex mechanical, air handling and refrigeration units, and support reactive tasks.
* Manage personal jobs on the CAFM via handheld PDA, keep CAFM information up to date.
* Support mechanical system shutdowns, isolations and planned shutdowns, and organise planned shutdowns.
* Help and escort contractors and host internal and external stakeholders.
* Participate in the out of hours call system and be part of the on‑call rota.
* Produce engineering reports for safety groups and trust committees.
* Investigate incidents and report back into the management structure.
* Assist visitors, patients and staff during incidental contact.
Technical Skills
* Fluent with CAFM handheld PDA systems and Building Management Systems (BMS).
* Identify and rectify faults in high/medium/low pressurised heating and domestic hot water systems, including boiler resets.
* Fault find on complex Air Handling Units, Refrigeration Plant and Medical Gas equipment; work on ‘live’ systems when supervised.
* Operate Building Management Systems, interrogate programmes and change parameters.
* Carry out tap and TMV maintenance, cleaning, disinfection and temperature setting.
* Install plumbing goods, toilets, sinks, macerators and point of use water heaters.
Leadership & Management
* Mentor junior members and apprentices.
* Host contractors and internal/external stakeholders.
Information & Reporting
* Responsible for the upkeep of the CAFM information within the local team.
Technology or System Support
* Conversant with CAFM via handheld PDA system.
* Conversant with BMS and Bold systems.
Communications and Engagement
* Provide and receive complex information to managers and end users.
* Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information.
* Communicate technical project related information with other professionals, internal and external personnel, including senior managers and directors, to ensure that work undertaken conforms to all statutory and HTM requirements.
* Work effectively with relative services within the trusts to ensure due process and governance in the delivery of additional works.
General Responsibilities
* Take part on the estates callout roster.
* Support the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work.
