About the CAD Technician Instrumentation & Controls Role Reporting to the Controls Engineering Team, the CAD Technician Instrumentation & Controls will play a vital role in turning client requirements and engineering concepts into clear, accurate electrical and instrumentation drawings. From wiring schematics to PLC panel layouts and P&IDs, your expertise will ensure projects move from vision to reality efficiently, accurately, and to world-class standards. This is an ideal opportunity for a drafter or technician with experience in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical looking to work on large-scale international engineering projects. Key Responsibilities CAD Technician Instrumentation & Controls Create and update P&IDs, wiring diagrams, hook-up drawings, loop drawings, control panel GAs, and Boolean logic schematics Use AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical to produce technical documentation for instrumentation and controls systems Interpret customer specifications alongside Control Engineers to develop accurate and compliant designs Generate and assist with creating Bills of Materials (BOMs) Conduct site and workshop visits to support live projects and incorporate design changes Ensure timely delivery of high-quality drawing packages aligned to project deadlines Support the creation of as-built documentation following project completion Perform quality checks on your own and team members drawings for accuracy What Were Looking For CAD Technician Instrumentation & Controls Practical experience producing instrumentation and controls drawings using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical Background in electrical design, control panels, and process instrumentation Knowledge of producing full BOMs and technical drawing sets Strong communication and time management skills Meticulous attention to detail and a structured, organised approach to work Assertive and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise tasks and hit deadlines Ideally, a relevant qualification in engineering or design (degree or equivalent experience) Must hold a full UK driving licence and live within a 1-hour commute of PE9 4AQ Benefits CAD Technician Instrumentation & Controls Competitive salary dependent on experience MondayFriday, 8:30am5pm (onsite role) Involvement in major, global energy projects Career progression and technical development Work alongside an expert engineering team in a world-class facility Supportive team culture in a business that values innovation and precision Why Join as a CAD Technician Instrumentation & Controls?
