Who we are
FK Lowry, part of the Lagan Specialist Group, has been delivering specialist piling solutions for over 35 years. As members of the Federation of Piling Specialists and a founding member of the Piling Contractors Association of Ireland (PCAI), we design and install CFA and rotary bored piling, retaining walls, driven piling and ground improvement systems for some of the region’s most significant infrastructure and building projects.
Role Overview
Working within our dynamic team, you will actively contribute to the success of our projects while preparing for your future as a qualified engineer.
How you will Develop
This is an excellent opportunity to apply your theoretical understanding to real engineering challenges and gain hands-on experience across site operations, technical tasks, and project delivery. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be supported by experienced colleagues who will help you build confidence, broaden your knowledge, and progress in your development.
What you'll do
Technical Support for Piling Operations
1. Assist with planning and preparing piling works
2. Support with setting-out tasks using surveying equipment
3. Support with geotechnical data, borehole logs and ground investigations
4. Observe and document piling installation processes
Quality Assurance & Compliance
5. Complete quality checks (pile records, cube tests, reinforcement inspections)
6. Ensure compliance with specifications, BS 8004, and site procedures
7. Help maintain daily logs and documentation required for piling QA packs
Health, Safety & Environmental
8. Assist in setting up safe work areas around piling rigs
9. Support toolbox talks and briefings
10. Monitor plant exclusion zones, lifting operations, soil management, and environmental controls
11. Assist in preparing reports, method statements, and risk assessments
Project and Site Coordination
12. Work with engineers, site supervisors, rig operators, and subcontractors
13. Help track progress against the programme
14. Participate in site meetings and contribute updates
