Job SummaryResponsible for the development and management of the group Test House facility, including the metallurgical laboratory and machine shop. Critical success factors include ensuring the appropriate resources and leadership are in place to meet operational KPI’s and strategic goals, in a way that supports the FSG values of Quality, Integrity, Commitment and Collaboration.Key Objectives of the Role:
* Manage costs to budget for Test House P&L
* Identify and lead growth opportunities for Test House
* Lead, prioritise and motivate all team members.
* Identify resources required for laboratory (both Human and Equipment) based on load/capacity models
* Maintain accreditation and relevant customer approvals including NADCAP, UKAS, Rolls Royce, GE, PW, Snecma with compliance to ISO, ASTM and BSEN standards.
* Liaise with manufacturing and technical teams to fulfil all their testing requirements.
* Monitor Test House performance against agreed delivery dates and costs.
* Investigation of test failures and proposal of remedial action to prevent recurrence.
* Implement new systems of work and procedures to improve departmental efficiency.
* Instigate test reduction initiatives, an provide technical assistance where required.
* Compilation and control of sequential cut-up requirements.
* Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality
The Applicant:
* Five or more years experience in materials testing either specifying or practical testing.
* Formal Metallurgical or Engineering qualification preferred however other backgrounds can be considered with suitable relevant practical experience
* Familiarity with UKAS, NADCAP or Aerospace testing specification requirements.
* Supervisory or managerial experience essential.
* Experience of managing costs/budgets preferred
* Experience of aerospace and commercial products and customers.
* Good written and verbal skills and the ability tocommunicate effectively at all levels of the business
* Computer literate with an excellent understanding of Word & Excel
