Overview
Out of Hours Dispatcher, Band 3 – Fixed Term/Secondment to 31 March 2026. Part-time, various hours. Salary: £28,011 - £30,230 per annum pro rata. Location: Dundee, Perth & Kinross, and Angus, Scotland.
Responsibilities
* Manage urgent patient cases referred by professional stakeholders (e.g., care homes, district nurses, ambulance services, NHS24) in a real-time environment.
* Coordinate the safe and effective deployment of OOH vehicles and clinicians across the designated region.
* Prioritise urgent cases and dispatch vehicles to the most suitable clinician in a timely and safe manner.
* Work closely with the Out of Hours Team, other health professionals and agencies to deliver high-quality care during evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
* Operate with initiative, work under pressure, and take decisive action to preserve service cover and patient safety.
* Comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout employment.
Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
* Good oral and written communication skills; knowledge of the geography of Tayside.
* Ability to work under pressure and make timely decisions to maintain service coverage and patient safety.
* Compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland).

* Hours: Monday to Sunday; daytime/evening/overnight/public holiday shifts during planned and unplanned staff absences.
* Employment type: Fixed Term/Secondment (to 31 March 2026); Part-time.
* Location: Dundee, Perth & Kinross, and Angus, with duties across the region as required.
