There is an exciting opportunity for a joint Consultant Clinical Scientist post in the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) Midlands and North West Hub and the Biochemistry and Immunology department at UHCW. The BCSP hub is one of five national hubs in England, inviting 1.8 million subjects annually for screening. The Deputy Director will support this service, leading clinically alongside the Director and liaising with stakeholders to ensure a safe, effective service that aims to improve screening uptake and reduce health inequalities.
The Biochemistry and Immunology Department is part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology (CWPS) network, covering four hospital sites: UHCW, Rugby Hospital, Warwick Hospital, and George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton. The team comprises 5 Consultants, 2 Principal and 3 Senior Clinical Scientists, focusing on developing specialist services and expanding their repertoire.

The role includes responsibility for leading and managing a high-quality, automated Clinical Biochemistry and Bowel Cancer Screening Hub (BCSH), supporting adult, pediatric, and laboratory information services within Coventry and Warwickshire. The post involves working closely with BMS staff, Clinical Scientists, other consultants, management, and external healthcare providers to ensure operational and strategic objectives are met.
The successful candidate will support UKAS accreditation, ensure effective communication with service users and partners, and participate in relevant clinical and administrative activities. Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 29th September. Applicants will need to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from their current UK occupational health provider or GP.
