Electrical Engineer – Industrial / Manufacturing
We are looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer with solid industrial experience to join our engineering team within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of complex electrical and electromechanical systems. The ideal candidate will be electrically qualified to UK standards and confident working across both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, service, and repair industrial electrical systems, including three-phase motors, control panels, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and automated machinery.
* Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system faults using schematics, wiring diagrams, test equipment, and diagnostic tools.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to ensure high equipment availability and minimal downtime.
* Ensure all work complies with UK legislation and standards, including BS 7671 (18th Edition) and the Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Support machinery upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and productivity.
* Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and engineering project work.
* Undertake PLC fault finding and minor modifications across systems such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Mitsubishi.
* Interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and mechanical engineering documentation.
* Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and technical documentation.
* Complete risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) and work in line with PUWER, LOLER, and Health & Safety legislation.
* Contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives within the engineering function.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Engineering Maintenance
* City & Guilds 2365 / 2330 / 2360 (or equivalent)
* Facilities Regulation Part P
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds 2382-18)
* Time-served apprenticeship in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering
* Proven experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
Desirable Skills & Certifications
* City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Testing & Inspection)
* HNC/HND in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanical Engineering
* PLC diagnostics or programming exposure
* COMPEX (Ex01–Ex04) for hazardous environments
* Mechanical knowledge, including hydraulics and pneumatics
* Valid CSCS or ECS card
* IOSH Working Safely or Managing Safely certification
