Disability and Inclusion Officer Department: Wellbeing and Support Location: Manchester Campus Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week Working Pattern: Monday to Friday Reports to: Course Director and Head of Wellbeing Service Company Description UK Management College (UKMC) is a growing higher education provider offering a range of business-focused and professional programmes. We work closely with experienced academics, industry partners, and wellbeing and inclusion specialists to ensure that our learning environment remains supportive, accessible, and compliant with relevant legislation. Job Purpose The Disability Inclusion Officer plays a central role in promoting accessibility, equality, and inclusion for students and staff with disabilities or long-term health conditions across UKMC campuses. The role ensures compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of reasonable adjustments, inclusive learning practices, and disability-related components of the Temporary Learning Agreement (TLA) and Learning Support Plan (LSP) processes. The postholder acts as the primary contact for disability-related support, facilitates cross-departmental collaboration, and ensures that UKMC maintains high standards of inclusion, accessibility, and wellbeing for all learners and staff. Key Responsibilities Disability Support and Case Management Act as the first point of contact for all disability-related support enquiries and assessments for students and staff. Coordinate, implement, and review reasonable adjustments and assistive technology provisions. Maintain accurate, confidential records of disability-related cases in full compliance with GDPR and internal data protection policies. Contribute to the creation, review, and monitoring of TLA and LSP plans. Collaboration & Inclusive Practices Work collaboratively with academic teams, administrative services, estates, digital services, and HR to ensure accessibility across learning, digital systems, and physical spaces. Provide guidance, advice, and training to staff on inclusive teaching, disability awareness, and accessibility compliance. Work closely with the Wellbeing Officer, Campus Coordinator, Academic Services, and Student Success Tutors to ensure coordinated and holistic support. PEEPs & Health and Safety Compliance Coordinate the development, maintenance, and annual review of Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) for students and staff with mobility, sensory, or medical needs. Ensure PEEP documentation is securely stored and shared with relevant teams such as Estates, Fire Safety Officers, and HR. Conduct risk assessments where required and support the implementation of agreed evacuation strategies. Quality, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Promote disability inclusion through workshops, awareness campaigns, and training sessions. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disability support services and report progress to the Wellbeing Lead. Ensure compliance with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) standards and Health & Safety requirements in line with UKMC’s quality assurance processes. Person Specification Essential Experience in disability support, inclusion services, or student wellbeing roles. Strong knowledge of the Equality Act 2010, reasonable adjustments, and inclusive education practices. Familiarity with Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) and health & safety considerations for disabled individuals. Excellent organisational, administrative, and record‑keeping skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with academic, estates, HR, and professional service teams. Desirable Experience working within higher or further education settings. Knowledge of assistive technologies, accessibility audits, or inclusive digital design. Experience working with external agencies, disability services, or occupational health professionals.
