APPRENTICE SHEET METAL ENGINEER/WELDER

Company: Bonney Greenhalgh & Co Ltd

Location: Clayton-Le-Woods, Chorley

Wage: Hourly Rate: Between £7.55 - £8 depending on prior experience in engineering

At Bonney Greenhalgh, you will be trained to work across all areas of the business, and duties will include:

* MIG and TIG Welding
* Folding/bending/cutting
* Handling stainless steel and aluminium
* Grinding
* Polishing
* Use of hand tools
* Powder Coating
* Work from scale drawings
* Operating machines, including CNC operated press brakes and punch and bending machines

The apprentice will spend the first 12 months enrolled on a Level 2 fabrication and welding apprenticeship, with potential to progress to a Level 3 engineering apprenticeship.


DUTIES

WORKING HOURS PER WEEK

39 hours across 4.5 days (early finish on Fridays)

Required Qualifications

* Grade 4 or Level 2 maths
* Grade 4 or Level 2 English

These grades are required to progress to a Level 3 apprenticeship standard.

EXPECTED DURATION

12 months initially enrolled on Fabrication and Welding Level 2, with the view of progressing to a 3-year Level 3 engineering apprenticeship


FUTURE PROSPECTS

Progression to Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship Standard. The opportunity to train in CNC programming. Future leadership opportunities may be available within the company.
