Pig Stockperson Pig Stockperson - Nottinghamshire - £32,000 – £35,000 The Job: An opportunity has come up for a Senior Stockperson to join a progressive pig unit within a mixed farming business. This is a hands-on role supporting the Unit Manager with the day-to-day running of an indoor pig system, working across all stages of production. The unit runs a three-week batch system, with pigs moving through to modern weaner accommodation before finishing off-site. The farm is currently investing heavily in upgrades, including new farrowing and weaner buildings, with further developments planned. You’ll be involved in all aspects of pig production, from farrowing through to serving, helping keep routines running smoothly and maintaining high standards of animal welfare and performance. There may also be opportunities to get involved in the wider farm, including sheep and arable work, if of interest. Key Responsibilities: - Support the day to day running of the pig unit and its 3-week production cycle - Assist during key periods such as farrowing and serving - Carry out feeding, vaccinating, and general stock work - Maintain accurate records and support performance tracking - Handle livestock safely and in line with welfare standards - Follow strict biosecurity and health & safety procedures - Assist with basic maintenance, cleaning, and general upkeep - Operate farm machinery where required (e.g. tractors, forklifts, telehandlers) - Work closely with the Unit Manager to help plan and deliver unit performance The Company: Family run mixed farm based near Newark, combining pig, sheep and arable enterprises. The business is focused on being as self-sufficient as possible, producing its own feed and investing in renewable energy, with a long term aim of becoming carbon neutral. The pig unit is a key part of the business and has seen strong recent success, supported by ongoing investment and a forward thinking approach. The Candidate: - Experience in pig production or a strong interest in livestock farming - Practical, hands on approach with a good work ethic - Good understanding of animal welfare and farm health & safety - Organised and able to work to routine while managing workload - Confident working as part of a team and communicating clearly - Calm under pressure and able to take responsibility when needed - Full UK driving licence and able to commute to site - Experience in farrowing/serving, animal health, or nutrition would be an advantage - Basic IT skills useful as the unit moves towards digital records The Package: - £32,000 – £35,000 salary depending on experience - Bonus scheme paid weekly - 28.5 days holiday (including bank holidays) - Company pension - Mobile phone and uniform provided - Overtime available - Clear opportunity to progress within the business Hours: - Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 4:00pm - One weekend in three (reduced hours, approx. 7:00am – 11:30am) Please email your CV to Liam Davis, Senior Delivery Recruitment Consultant, LDavis@agriRS.co.uk.
