OCU Group are looking for an experienced Ruby on the rails Lead Software Developer to join our growing digital team and play a central role in the development of OCU One, our in-house, bespoke workforce management platform. Role Overview Working closely with the Platform Manager, you’ll take ownership of key system components, influence architectural decisions, and lead development best practices. You’ll be a technical authority across the platform, regularly mentoring other developers and ensuring OCU One remains scalable, performant, and aligned with business goals. Key Skills & Experience Experience of professional software development experience, currently operating at Lead Developer or equivalent level. Strong development experience with Ruby on Rails in a production environment. Expertise in working with SQL-based databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL). Skilled in version control and collaboration using Git and GitHub (or equivalent Git-based platforms). Proven track record of leading development projects, mentoring others, and delivering high-quality systems at scale. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to design for performance, reliability, and maintainability. Desirable Skills Experience in Flutter or mobile application development (iOS and/or Android). Exposure to containerisation and deployment technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring/logging frameworks, and cloud-native development. Background in field-service, construction, or workforce management platforms.
