Job Title: Senior Environmental Advisor
Location: Scotland (with travel across project sites)

The Role
The Senior Environmental and Sustainability Advisor role will require travel across Scotland to visit various project sites as required.
The jobholder will provide support and advice to operational teams on all aspects of environmental and sustainability management — developing documentation, meeting legal, regulatory and company standards, and helping to deliver a culture of continual improvement.
They will work closely with clients and regulators to ensure compliance with their requirements and support on-site mitigation, sustainability of works, and engagement with local stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
1. Provide advice and support to operational teams on environmental and sustainability matters, including the latest low- or zero-carbon technologies.
2. Maintain relationships with regulators, clients, subcontractors, and local stakeholders.
3. Support project teams in the investigation of any environmental incidents.
4. Ensure on-site compliance with environmental legislation and coach teams in applying controls and mitigations.
5. Support sustainability activities for the project and the wider business.
6. Advise the business on best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility, addressing issues as they arise.
7. Maintain awareness of biodiversity net gain and carbon emissions management in infrastructure, including embodied carbon, and alignment with Omexom and wider industry sustainability targets.
8. Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors on environmental management and sustainability matters.
9. Provide support to operations and design teams on environmental compliance and project-specific mitigation measures, including pollution control and ecological protection.
10. Investigate environmental incidents and support the implementation of controls to prevent recurrence.
11. Produce internal and external reports as required (e.g. case studies, environmental and sustainability performance updates).
12. Support and conduct audit and assurance activities, including facilitating external audits by clients and certification bodies.
Essential Criteria
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with all stakeholders (internal and external), a commercially focused self-starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role.
They must possess:
13. Strong knowledge of environmental management and sustainability issues, including water environment, ecology, archaeology, and private water supplies.
14. Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
15. Ability and willingness to work flexibly between home, office, and site.
16. Self-motivation and the ability to motivate staff at all levels.
17. Strong oral and written communication skills.
18. Ability to establish effective internal and external networks.
Desirable
19. Degree-level education in Environmental Science or Environmental Management.
20. Practical experience and knowledge of environmental legislation, ecological mitigation, environmental licences and consent applications, and regulator consultation.
21. Understanding of the construction operating environment.
22. Membership of a professional environmental body (e.g. IES, IEMA).
23. Experience with PAS 2080.
24. Experience using ESRI ArcGIS.
General
This position is preferably based in Scotland. Travel to sites and attendance at project progress meetings will be required throughout the region.
Flexible working arrangements are available; however, a certain amount of office-based work is expected.
The salary and benefits package will be offered on a Personal Contract basis, commensurate with experience and responsibility level.
