About Alvarez & Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with over 11,000 entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals in over 40 countries. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The collaborative environment and engaging work—guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity—are why our people love working at A&M.

The Team

A&M's global Disputes & Investigations (DI) practice is a leading provider of forensic accounting, forensic technology, privacy, cyber, economic expert witness, dispute resolution and investigation services. The firm has an established reputation for high quality and conflict-free work. Our approach is characterised by a high level of objectivity, diligence and intensive analysis. The DI team comprises over 450 professionals globally with dedicated European teams in London, Munich, Frankfurt, Athens, Paris, Madrid, Geneva and Zurich. We have worked on some of the most significant, high-profile matters in the investigative and disputes arena across many European countries and beyond.

A&M's DI team embraces professionals from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds, who bring deep expertise in conducting investigations, presenting expert evidence including testifying, managing electronic disclosure exercises and interrogating complex sets of information. Our core areas of work include commercial litigation and international arbitration, valuation disputes, contract disputes, anti-bribery and fraud investigations, regulatory investigations and other dispute advisory services.

How you will contribute

Against the backdrop of our growing presence in the UK, opportunities exist for us to strengthen the DI business at the Associate level. The successful appointee will play a key part in the further development of the practice. This opportunity is ideal for recently qualified accountants with up to two years post qualified experience. Although experience in forensic services is desirable this is not a requirement.

The preferred candidate will be an action-oriented self-starter with entrepreneurial flair. You will be comfortable working independently as well as part of a high performing team. Critically, you will need to be client facing with an emphasis on being able to articulate complex findings in a clear and meaningful manner. In addition, the successful candidate will:

* Have excellent technical accounting knowledge
* Perform initial analyses and provide summaries of accounting, finance and economic issues
* Review documents to identify items relevant to an investigation or dispute consulting matter
* Assist with compiling, analysing, and documenting facts for matters under investigation or in litigation
* Assist in developing and/or evaluating damages, claims and calculations
* Prepare financial models, cash flow analysis, and other analyses to support business valuations and damage assessments
* Assist with drafting reports and findings including the preparation of tables, exhibits and charts
* Assist with researching technical and industry specific issues
* Develop and suggest solutions to complex problems by being innovative and thinking "outside the box"
* Balance multiple client projects and other responsibilities
* Communicate effectively to all levels of the engagement team

Qualifications

* ACA or ACCA qualification
* Either a new or a recently qualified accountant
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
* Interest in forensic/dispute consulting, investigations and business valuation
