Senior Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

If you’re a confident, capable vet ready to take the next step in your career with a strong focus on clinical leadership and development, Miramar Vets in Sheringham could be your perfect move.

Modern Facilities Designed for Excellence

Miramar Vets is a bright, spacious and welcoming practice designed to make every day feel enjoyable and well supported. With four consulting rooms including a dedicated RVN consulting space and a peaceful rainbow room, our environment is built around comfort and care. You’ll find separate reception areas for cats and dogs, species-specific kennels, an isolation ward, and a fully equipped in-house lab with external support from IDEXX. Our clinical facilities include a generous prep room, a well-organised theatre, a dedicated X-ray room, and ultrasound. Behind the scenes, our two shared offices and staff room (well-stocked with tea, coffee, and plenty of snacks!) give the team space to unwind and stay connected.

A Caseload That Keeps Every Day Engaging

As a Senior Veterinary Surgeon, you will work closely with the Director of Practice and Clinical Services to support clinical excellence, contribute to team development, and help shape the future of the practice.

This role combines hands-on clinical work with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring colleagues, supporting clinical standards, and contributing to the management of more complex cases.

Our patients are predominantly cats and dogs, accompanied by rabbits, small furries, the occasional chicken and the odd wildlife case. Sheringham attracts many holidaymakers, so during peak seasons we also see a higher volume of tourists, giving you interesting variety in your consults. Each of our vets enjoys a guaranteed ops day, typically involving routine but rewarding surgeries such as spays, castrates, lumpectomies, dentals, splenectomies, and more. While we have the ability to refer, we aim for continuity wherever possible and keep most cases in-house.

Equipment That Helps You Deliver Your Best Work

We’re proud to offer a full IDEXX suite, ultrasound, dedicated X-ray facilities, endoscope, bronchoscope, and a wide range of supportive equipment to make your day smoother. Dental X-ray is also on the way. As an ISFM Silver practice and a Dog Friendly accredited practice, we’re committed to delivering outstanding standards for pets and owners alike.

A Work–Life Balance That Really Works

This role can be structured over four or five days, totalling 40 hours per week, with a 1-in-3 Saturday mornings (8:15–12:30, with time given back in lieu). There are no OOH requirements, thanks to our close partnership with a neighbouring practice. Sole-charge shifts will occasionally form part of your working week, so confidence and capability in all areas is essential.

A Supportive Team with Skills to Share

You’ll be joining a friendly and highly skilled team of four vets, one of whom holds a dental certificate, alongside five RVNs, one SVN, one VCA, four receptionists and our Practice Manager. We’re always happy to support certificate study for those wanting to further their clinical interests. We’re looking for a patient, confident veterinary surgeon who is strong in surgery and ready to become an integral part of a team that genuinely cares.

A Practice Rooted in Its Community

Miramar Vets has proudly served the Sheringham community for more than 50 years. We regularly support charities including Cats Protection and Guide Dogs for the Blind, and we’re actively involved locally from school visits to running dog shows at the community carnival. Being part of Miramar means being part of something meaningful.

Why Sheringham Could Be Your New Favourite Place

It’s a wonderful place to relocate if you’re seeking a slower pace, fresh sea air and a genuinely welcoming community. Whether you love paddle-boarding at sunrise, exploring woodland trails, or relaxing with fish and chips on the promenade, Sheringham offers an exceptional quality of life, perfect for those wanting both professional fulfilment and a beautiful place to call home.
