We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Air Quality Consultant. We are seeking candidates who are looking to work on some of the largest and most interesting air quality and carbon projects in the UK. The position is permanent with the opportunity for hybrid home/office working with a base in Epsom, Birmingham or Manchester.

The Air Quality and Emissions team is part of an award-winning, multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy practice, providing air quality consultancy and emissions management services for land development, transport, and energy clients. We work with local and national governments, industrial clients, funding agencies, property developers, infrastructure contractors, and regulators.
We seek someone committed to delivering high-quality, technically sound work, with strong reporting standards and innovative assessment approaches. Responsibilities include desk and field-based air quality, dust, odour impact assessments for planning applications, emissions calculations, dispersion modelling, mitigation planning, environmental permit support, and technical advisory services. You will lead tasks, support colleagues, and work within a team to provide integrated client services.
The role will include:
1. Designing and undertaking air quality surveys, analysing data.
2. Producing assessments for infrastructure projects.
3. Advising on mitigation strategies for air pollution and emissions.
4. Preparing and delivering reports.
5. Managing personal and team workloads within budgets and schedules.
6. Contributing to bids and business development.
7. Developing technical and digital skills continuously.
About you:
Ideally, you will have:
1. A higher degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific field.
2. Knowledge of air quality and carbon issues, policies, and standards.
3. Experience with modelling and assessment techniques.
4. Data analysis skills using spreadsheets and GIS tools.
5. Experience presenting to stakeholders.
6. Proficiency in IT applications like Word, Excel, Outlook.
7. An understanding of health and safety risk management.
8. A full UK driving license and willingness to travel.
Desirable but not essential:
* Experience in air quality consultancy.
* Experience with emission inventories and dispersion models.
* Knowledge of statistical packages or programming.
* Experience working with other environmental disciplines.
* Unsupervised site work experience.
* Project management experience.
