Job Introduction
Main Responsibilities
Our Finance teams responsibilities include statutory accounting and reporting, technical accounting expertise, business control, financial control, tax issues, capital and liquidity planning and management.
The key stakeholders for the Finance team are UK Management, the UK Board, UK Audit Committee, Districts, Branches, Chief Branch Officer, Group Finance, Suppliers, external and internal auditors.
As a team we are responsible for production of the monthly financial statements, accounting operations including accounts payable, receivables, and nostro reconciliations amongst other things.
The role of a Systems Accountant within includes in-depth involvement and regular engagement with the IT, Infrastructure and Systems side of the Bank while also keeping the Branches in the forefront of considerations.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Manage and maintain accounting software and systems, ensuring alignment with financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
* Lead the integration of new financial systems and enhancements, ensuring seamless transition and data accuracy.
* Conduct reviews of financial systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce best practices for financial data management.
* Provide training and support across finance team members on accounting systems and tools.
* Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
* Drive documentation of system processes and procedures.
* Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor financial performance and operational efficiency
* Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

* Have advanced knowledge of accounting software, financial reporting tools and Microsoft Office applications.
* Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across teams but with good ability to work independently when required.
* Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
* Be a problem solver and have a strong drive to move things forward.
* Be able to maintain a backlog and prioritise workloads as required.
* Have a methodical approach and a keen understanding of IT (from either a technical or developer perspective) as the role has a high degree of interaction with the IT department.
