Teacher - New Specialist School

Are you a passionate and dedicated Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? A new specialist school, is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher to join its brand-new team.

Opened in November 2024, this school supports young people aged 6-16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder, moderate to severe learning needs, and associated difficulties, providing an individualised, specialist approach.


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new venture, helping to shape the provision and develop the school from the ground up. You will be responsible for the quality of teaching and learning for your assigned pupils, focusing on their progress, welfare, and outcomes. You'll also supervise support staff and provide leadership in a curriculum area, contributing to school planning, monitoring standards, and leading professional development.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver and develop curriculum tailored to individual student needs.
* Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team (teachers, therapy, pastoral, support staff).
* Plan, prepare, record, and review student progress.
* Monitor, assess, and report on student progress to parents and relevant stakeholders.
* Provide leadership in a curriculum area, including monitoring quality, contributing to school planning, and advising on resources.
* Implement school aims and embed school values in daily practice.


Skills & Qualifications

* PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Working knowledge of special educational needs, including relevant curriculum and learning plans.
* Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Strong communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
* Effective planning, preparation, recording, and reviewing skills for student progress.
* Proficiency in supporting pupils with ASD and complex communication/behavioural needs.
* Ability to identify and de-escalate emotional and behavioural issues.
* Experience working in an ASD/SLD environment is desirable.
