Job Title: Financial Controller Independent Hospitality Group

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join an ambitious, growing hospitality group with three vibrant restaurants in London. This is a rare chance to take ownership of the financial health and strategy of a respected operator known for creative food, modern systems, and a people-first culture.
As Financial Controller, you will report directly to the CEO and play a pivotal role in strategic planning, financial leadership, systems management, and cultural impact. You'll work closely with an external finance provider while collaborating across internal teams and general managers to ensure accurate reporting and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Strategy
* Manage and oversee all internal finance operations in partnership with the external accounting team.
* Review and validate monthly management accounts, providing clear commentary and variance analysis.
* Consolidate performance across all sites into group-level financial reports.
* Lead on budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and funding applications.
* Develop and maintain performance KPIs across departments.
* Monitor cash flow weekly and highlight risks or opportunities.
* Prepare board-level financial packs with trend analysis and commercial insight.
* Ensure all compliance and statutory obligations are met (VAT, PAYE, HMRC).
* Act as liaison for external auditors, banks, and HMRC.
Systems & Technology
* Oversee financial and operational systems including:
Xero (Accounting)
* Lightspeed (EPOS)
* MarketMan (Stock & COGS)
* Tenzo (Sales Forecasting)
* Harri (Labour & Scheduling)
* Ensure seamless system integration and data accuracy.
* Train and support managers across all platforms.
* Audit usage and seek continuous improvement in automation and efficiency.
Team Collaboration & Culture
* Deliver monthly finance reviews with General Managers and the CEO using accessible language and actionable insights.
* Promote financial literacy and accountability across departments.
* Contribute to leadership meetings and support commercial decision-making.
* Assist with financial modelling for new sites, pricing, and business cases.
* Shape performance-related pay and bonus schemes using clear data.
* Uphold company values in all leadership interactions.
Key Requirements
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent experience).
* Solid background in hospitality, multi-site retail, or F&B environments.
* Confident working with both internal stakeholders and external finance teams.
* Hands-on experience with cloud-based finance and hospitality systems.
* Strategic thinker with a sharp eye for detail and commercial understanding.
* Excellent communication skills able to translate finance into real-world insight.
