Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Shift Technician to join our facilities and engineering team based at our Heathrow site. This role is critical in ensuring the continuous operation, maintenance, and safety of building systems and infrastructure within a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Working on a shift rotation, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain critical building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS, generators, and BMS systems
* Perform routine inspections, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and reactive maintenance tasks
* Monitor system performance and respond promptly to alarms and faults
* Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimise operational disruption
* Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company standards
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incidents, and system performance
* Liaise with contractors and third-party vendors when required
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and energy efficiency programs
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a similar Shift Technician or maintenance engineering role
* Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems within a commercial or critical environment
* Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering)
* Experience working with building management systems (BMS)
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to emergencies
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills
* Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
