Service Designer

About the Role
A top-tier digital consultancy is seeking an experienced Service Designer to join their team in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape high-impact public sector services that align with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
You’ll work as part of agile, multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale digital transformation projects—designing end-to-end journeys and services that truly meet user needs, while balancing business goals and technical constraints.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead service design activities within cross-functional teams on government and public sector projects
* Create service blueprints, journey maps, and ecosystem diagrams to visualise and improve services
* Apply GDS principles to ensure accessibility, usability, and compliance throughout the service lifecycle
* Facilitate stakeholder workshops and co-design sessions to drive alignment and shared understanding
* Collaborate with researchers, content designers, developers, and delivery managers to build user-centred solutions
* Present findings and design recommendations clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences
Requirements
* Substantial experience as a Service Designer, ideally on public sector or GDS-aligned projects
* Excellent understanding of the GDS Service Standard and associated assessment processes
* Proven ability to simplify complex services and identify user pain points through mapping and analysis
* Skilled in facilitation, co-creation, and stakeholder engagement
* Comfortable using tools such as Miro, Figma, Lucidchart, or equivalent
* Strong communication and storytelling skills, both visual and verbal
This is a hybrid role based in Bristol, offering up to £64,000 depending on experience.
