Overview
Location: Headingley Hall Care Home, 5 Shire Oak Road
Hours: 1 x vacancy - 24 hours per week (8pm-8am)
DBS: Enhanced
Contract: Part-time
Salary: £12.43 hourly
Closing Date: Monday 15th September, 2025
The post holder will be expected to work when required to cover for sickness and holidays. You will be required to work unsocial hours, including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays as necessary to meet the needs of the service. The service operates 24 hours per day, seven day per week and flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the service.
Main Duties
* Delivering the Vision: To lead by example to ensure that all customers and employees are treated with equality, dignity and respect and every individual feels they can challenge discrimination and harassment in employment practice and service provision.
* Quality Management: To demonstrate a sense of pride for the job and the organisation; maintain a professional appearance in accordance with uniform standards; deliver care in accordance with the care plans for each individual and in line with the Quality Management System, training and verbal instructions from the Care Manager; assist in the cleanliness and general appearance of Headingley Hall; ensure health and safety of self and customers through best practice in all aspects of work and in line with Westward Care Health and Safety guidelines; ensure paperwork is completed accurately within agreed timeframes.
* Being part of the Team: Work effectively with other team members to deliver care and ensure the smooth operation of Headingley Hall; contribute to the development of others through sharing knowledge and information; participate in training and development to meet mandatory requirements and identified needs.
* Communication: Provide relevant and timely information to the Care Manager at agreed intervals; adopt various methods of communication to meet customer needs; maintain confidentiality; participate in team and individual meetings with Line Manager.
* Customer Service: Deliver care that promotes independence, dignity, respect and choice; encourage participation in social and leisure activities; address issues proactively; identify opportunities for continuous improvement and communicate ideas to the Care Manager; create an outstanding first impression; ensure internal and external customers are treated with respect; handle enquiries professionally and courteously.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Criteria
* Experience in a care setting
* Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
* Willing to undertake any training/qualifications required to support the Care Assistant role
* Previous experience of working with people in a residential care home; caring and compassionate nature suitable for working with vulnerable adults
* Able to record resident information and update records
Desired Criteria
* Knowledge of electronic care planning systems and call systems within the home
* Experience of supporting people with End of Life care
* Working understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), Infection Control, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Data Protection
