Department: Office & Management Location: Brixton Compensation: £30,000 / year Description This role is to be worked on a 35 hour per week basis, term-time only plus specific additional support days (the last week of August before beginning of academic year and the last day of each school holiday period.) The working weeks are 40, plus holiday pay, totalling 45.4 working weeks. The salary advertised is the full time equivalent based on 52 weeks. The pro-rata salary is therefore £26,192.31 per annum. The role of the Driver Supervisor is to support Depot Management to ensure all routes are covered and a high quality, legal transport service operates at all times. The nature of our work will require the candidate to demonstrate an understanding of disability issues and ensure deliver the service with a patient and a level-headed attitude. The role will require the candidate to support the Managers in organising the daily transport routes and their associated staff. The role will also require managing communications between staff and end users (parents and carers) to ensure they are informed of any alterations to scheduled transport. The post-holder may also be required to support in the form of professional driving services for our contracts and equally importantly, our passengers. Key Responsibilities Support the Managers in delivering full transport services, recording through the Cordic computer system. Monitor driving and passenger assistant staffing to ensure a full complement of staff are always available to fulfil the needs of the service. Act as a first point of contact for general telephone, email and in person enquiries relating to the depot and transport operation, escalating as appropriate. Address vehicle accidents responsibly, following appropriate procedures and liaising with insurers throughout. Working with a centralised Administrator, help ensure Drivers and Passenger Assistants are regularly completing applicable multimedia training using the Atlas system, as well as ensuring DBS checks are up to date at all times. Complete return to work interviews for all staff remotely, by phone or teams’ one day prior to re-entering work following and absence. Where applicable and in conjunction with depot management, help complete, review and update risk assessments of transport routes and service users and communicate these to applicable individuals. Communicate with service users, parents, carers, clients and other stakeholders in a patient, informative and professional manner. Ensure, in-conjunction with Management, vehicle defects are reported in line with the relevant process and procedure using the TruTac system. Ensure all communication equipment used to manage Cordic correctly and safely utilised ensuring the safe, smooth and efficient running of the service. Regularly complete spot-checks of internal and external vehicle cleanliness, ensuring the appropriate high standards are maintained at all times. Provide training to ‘spare’ drivers on seat removal, configuration, and basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as bulb changing, etc. Support as required with project work, including supporting the fulfilment of ad hoc private work, relating to the depot and transport operation. Fulfil other reasonable duties as and when requested by the management team, including supporting with driving and/or passenger assistant duties, where able. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Will need to hold a valid full unrestricted category D PSV driving licence as well as a CPC qualification card. Willing to undertake and to satisfy and continue to satisfy a DBS check. Conversant with modern software solution including but not exclusively with Microsoft Office. Willing to continually satisfy our Safeguarding policy and procedures. Willing to work additional hours as agreed outside normal working hours. Be physically fit. Ability to work in a team environment as well as confidence to work with minimum supervision and using own initiative. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to complete various electronic registers and records quickly and accurately using specific software such as ITrent HR software, Purchase Order software, Compliance software such as TruTac which monitors driver hours, licencing and Vehicle Checks.
