What skills and experience we're looking for
Responsibilities
* Support planning, delivery, and assessment of lessons, including covering classes during teacher absence
* Prepare and deliver lessons independently under a system of supervision, using ICT and communication aids effectively
* Manage and develop a specialist area within the school as agreed by SLT
* Collaborate with and manage Learning Support Assistants to support teaching and learning
* Provide personal care and appropriate medical interventions following school procedures
Qualifications
* Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, GCSE grade A – C or equivalent in Literacy and Numeracy
* Meet Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification, willingness to complete within the first year in post
* Training in relevant learning strategies – literacy, TEACCH
* Makaton or other sign language accreditation
* Experience of working with children with a range of disabilities including autism
