Investigation Support Officer Location: 10 Southway, Colchester, CO3 3BU Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: 5 Months Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week Pay Rate: £ 15.08 per hour Job Ref: OR12725 Job Responsibilities Interview witnesses and victims of crime, assist in suspect interviews, and take high-quality, accurate statements for case files. Coordinate and manage the seizure and viewing of CCTV, analyze information, and record elements in comprehensive reports. Conduct house-to-house enquiries to support investigations and provide evidence in court as required. Undertake investigative research through relevant systems and procedures, maintaining accurate records and producing reports. Support and liaise with victims and witnesses, providing information and updates on case progress. Assist in searches and act as exhibits officer, ensuring the integrity and security of evidence. Submit complete and correct paperwork, ensuring evidential integrity and compliance with legislation and policy. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and force policy, ensuring investigations and documentation are of the highest standard. Ensure good communication with children's social care and complete joint investigative and safeguarding actions. Conduct safeguarding actions to mitigate risks to victims, witnesses, and suspects. Person Specification Full clean UK driving licence is essential. ABE (Achieving Best Evidence) trained. Desirable qualifications: PIP2 and SOTO (Sexual Offence Trained Officer). Recent experience in safeguarding vulnerable persons and criminal investigations is desirable. High degree of flexibility, motivation, and excellent communication skills required. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and statutory partners. Effective prioritization of workload and ability to work without close supervision. Proficient organizational skills and ability to manage multiple customer requirements and cases simultaneously. Good working knowledge of IT applications and systems, including Microsoft Office products. Ideally, knowledge of specific force intelligence systems such as Athena and Client, with training available. High level of integrity required due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the material handled. Flexibility to work extended hours and start at other designated locations as required to support urgent operational needs.
