We are currently seeking an interim Laboratory Coordinator to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. Become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based at our client's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral, easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation is competitive, up to £30,000 per annum, pro-rata, depending on experience.
Role overview:
Coordination and preparation of fragrance evaluations on behalf of the HC Fragrance Team, ensuring standard and safe operating practices.
Duties Include
Coordination
* Work closely with Fragrance experts to plan upcoming fragrance evaluation requirements. Book facilities, prepare test cloths, order samples, and ensure all assessors and project teams are invited and able to attend.
* Maintain stock for ballast loads and monitors, ordering as needed.
* Maintain the benchmark library of products, updating by ordering new items and disposing of old ones, and register products in the database.
* Maintain the fragrance oil library, updating and registering oils in LIMS.
* Represent the fragrance team in weekly meetings with CTI Laundry Sensory Panel Leader to ensure smooth operation and cost efficiency.
* Manage visitor bookings, lunches, and meeting room reservations.
Preparation
* Complete Job Sheets with correct protocols and test requirements.
* Order benchmark products and log test product samples into the database.
Preparation of fabrics
* Apply best practices at all times.
* Prepare ballast fabrics, label, and store appropriately.
* Order fabrics and test monitors to maintain stock levels.
Preparation of samples
Weigh and label jars with the correct dosages and codes.
Water preparation
Fill tanks with demineralized water, adjust salts, and titrate to achieve specific hardness.
Performing test washes
* Load washing machines following protocols, then sort and assess test monitors.
* Conduct hand washes and prepare cloths for assessment.
Recovery and other tasks
* Recover ballast loads for reuse, tracking usage.
* Maintain cleanliness of jars and bottles for reuse.
* Track monthly project costs and suggest efficiency improvements.
Safety
* Create and maintain SOPs and Risk Assessments.
* Report safety and maintenance issues.
* Dispatch samples globally, label products according to safety standards.
Requirements
* Awareness of safety procedures, including SOPs and risk assessments.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
