Overview
We are looking to employ enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join the General Portering Team at the RUH. General Portering ensures safe movement of patients to and from wards, clinics and departments throughout the RUH. This role operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Responsibilities
* Safely transport patients to wards, clinics and departments.
* Move equipment, furniture and beds between areas of the hospital.
* Distribute and collect post from all Trust areas; assist with distribution and collection of Medical Gases around the RUH site.
* Use a handheld device to manage tasks to ensure safe transportation of patients and equipment across the site.
* Be flexible, highly motivated and maintain a professional approach and attitude; good communication skills; work as part of a team or independently.
* Operate a powered Bedpusher machine (once fully trained and competent).
* Work shifts as part of a four-week rota to support work/life balance; exposure to distressing situations is part of the role.
Requirements
* Essential: A good level of general education, numeracy and literacy.
* Desirable: Knowledge of Health & Safety.
* Essential: Experience of working with the public.
* Desirable: Previous hospital portering experience.
* Essential: Full clean driving license.
* Essential: Ability to effectively manage own workload.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people; this role is at RUH Bath. The department operates a 4-week rota; adequate notice is given.
