As a Risk Assessment Specialist based in Manchester, the Netherlands or Germany, you will play a crucial role in shaping Arxada’s future, strengthening our Toxicology Team and ensuring our products meet the highest standards of safety and sustainability. This newly created position offers the opportunity to act as both a strategic thought leader and a hands‑on expert, working collaboratively across functions to ensure our portfolio is compliant, competitive and positioned for long‑term success. You will influence key decisions, help identify and close data gaps, and support the development of safer, greener technologies that protect people and the planet. Your work will directly enable Arxada to deliver on its purpose while driving meaningful value for customers in a changing regulatory landscape.
Essential Job Functions:
* Leadership on all topics associated with risk assessment relative to the Arxada portfolio and as required by the various regulations (BPR, FIFRA, TSCA, REACH, and other national approaches).
* Scope, author and defend risk assessments for internal safety determinations and for regulatory submission. Identify opportunities for refinement and make recommendations to toxicology, regulatory and other internal stakeholders regarding acceptability or need for further information.
* Be the inhouse expert and stay up‑date on guidance and new developments in risk assessment, data interpretation, and associated regulatory requirements. Proactively inform relevant internal stakeholders of impact.
* Ability to apply various exposure assessment approaches in a tiered approach to risk assessment.
* Coordinate closely with the topic experts in toxicology to interpret hazard information and propose thresholds for risk assessment.
* Coordinate with regulatory colleagues in all relevant geographies for meeting the relevant regulatory requirements for all Arxada active substances, biocidal products as well as additives.
* Support study design and study interpretation as it relates to risk assessment (e.g., exposure monitoring, dermal absorption, residues, leaching, etc.)
* Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to support toxicology team goals which could include study management, dossier preparation, classification, etc.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Post graduate qualification and 3+ years industrial experience or degree level and 5+ years industrial experience with at least 3+ years in risk assessment for biocides or chemicals.
* Degree in natural sciences. Strong mathematical/quantitative reasoning skills. Training in statistics and experience programming equations in Excel are an advantage.
* Training or work experience in toxicology, chemistry, or exposure assessment.
* Team player with ‘can do’-mentality; a strong communicator, who is flexible and self‑starting with proven project management and project co‑ordination skills.
