Job overview
The Trust seeks to recruit a locum full-time (10 PAs) Consultant in Cardiology to join our existing team. The role involves developing and expanding our cardiology services.
Our facilities include CT coronary angiography, stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, and a dedicated Cardiology Day Suite for cardiac pacing. The department is growing, with a dynamic team of consultants and specialist practitioners. You will receive support from colleagues and regular 1:1 support from the Clinical Lead.
Following the August rebuild of our Cardiology ward and CCU, the redesigned Cardiology unit has 16 beds, with 6 monitored and 10 non-monitored beds, and 4 telemetry monitors available for use across the trust.
Main duties of the job
We provide a 7-day in-reach service to our 34-bed MAU, supported by Cardiac Specialist Nurses during weekdays. We are exploring new collaborative models with primary care and regional tertiary centers like Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Our future development plans are aligned with recommendations from a recent GIRFT review.
Clinical
* Conduct ward rounds for inpatients, including daily in-reach to the MAU for cardiac patients
* Review and advise on inpatient management referred by other specialists
Non-Clinical
* Train Core and Specialty Trainees, Foundation doctors
* Develop Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Specialty Doctors
* Supervise audit projects and CME activities
* Participate in weekly and monthly meetings (e.g., Specialty team, Local Heart Disease Network)
* Promote evidence-based practice and guidelines
* Contribute to Clinical Governance
* Engage in multidisciplinary team leadership and management
* Perform other duties as appropriate
