We are seeking a Van Driver to join our bank of casual workers. You will provide a high-quality furniture delivery and collection service for the Hospice, ensuring excellent customer service and safe handling of furniture and electrical items. Working alongside a Van Assistant, you will be responsible for planning routes, liaising with customers, and ensuring safe and timely deliveries and collections. This is a physically demanding but rewarding role, where you’ll also help raise awareness of the Hospice cause. About the Role Key responsibilities will include: Safely driving a 3.5 tonne Luton van (or similar) for collections and deliveries. Delivering and collecting furniture and electrical items from customers and donor premises. Lift, carry, and manoeuvre heavy furniture and assemble/disassemble furniture where necessary. Ensure daily maintenance and safe use of the vehicle and equipment. Support shops, the warehouse, and Hospice events with stock and equipment transportation. About You: We’re looking for someone with: A full driving licence and experience driving a 3.5 tonne Luton van. Good knowledge of safe manual handling techniques. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan routes and complete paperwork accurately. Knowledge of the Pontefract and Five Towns area (desirable). Experience supervising others (desirable). Successful candidates will be added to our ‘bank’ list of workers. As such you will not be an employee of the Hospice but from time to time we may call upon you to work for us to provide cover.
