Job Summary
Offshore Operations is seeking a highly capable and confident Electro‑Technical Officer (ETO) responsible for the maintenance, repair and operation of all electrical and electronic equipment, installations and machinery aboard, including the DP system, radio communications, bridge navigation systems, domestic and hotel electrical systems and both internal and external telecommunications systems.
Responsibilities
* Safe operation, maintenance and ongoing reliability of the vessel’s electrical and electronic systems.
* Maintenance, testing and support of shipboard safety and emergency systems, ensuring compliance with statutory, Class and Company requirements.
* Electrical and technical support for vessel navigation, communication and associated electronic systems.
* Support for propulsion, vessel manoeuvring and DP systems, including power generation, distribution, drive, control and redundancy.
* Execution of planned maintenance activities in accordance with the vessel’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
* Maintaining accurate and timely records for Class, Flag State, ISM, ISPS, DP notation and charterer requirements.
* Liaison with shore‑side technical support and service engineers for inspections, defect rectification, upgrades and specialist attendance.
* Providing electrical support and technical guidance to engineering staff and deck officers to support vessel operations and the integrity of critical systems.
Qualifications
* Valid STCW Electro‑Technical Officer Certificate (III/6).
* Recognised seagoing ETO experience.
* Strong knowledge of marine electrical, electronic and automation systems.
* Experience with fault diagnosis and system recovery under operational conditions.
* Familiarity with PMS systems and audit requirements.
Desirable
* DP vessel / offshore experience.
* Knowledge of power management systems and redundancy concepts.
* High‑voltage training (where applicable).
* GMDSS maintenance endorsement.
Personal Attributes
* Highly safety‑focused with a methodical approach to fault‑finding.
* Ability to work independently as the vessel’s electrical specialist.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with the Chief Engineer and bridge team.
* Calm and effective under pressure in operational environments.
* Well organised with strong documentation standards.
