We are currently supporting urgent staffing requirements across several hospital sites within the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, and are seeking qualified Consultants who are available for immediate or short-notice locum engagement.

We are actively recruiting Locum Consultants across the following specialties: Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Anaesthetics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatric Medicine, Paediatrics, Radiology, Neurology, Dermatology, Microbiology, Histopathology, Older People Medicine, Adult Psychiatry, and Laboratory Medicine.
HOSPITAL SITES
Positions are available across multiple HSC Northern Ireland hospital sites including Antrim Area Hospital, Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, Ulster Hospital in Belfast, Holywell Hospital in Antrim, Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn, and Downe Hospital in Downpatrick.
PAY AND ENGAGEMENT
Locum Consultants engaged through Everest Recruitment will receive a rate of £64.00 per hour. All positions are engaged inside IR35 in accordance with current HMRC off-payroll working legislation. Payment is processed weekly via PAYE or through a compliant, approved Umbrella Company of your choice. Timesheet submission and processing is managed efficiently to ensure timely payment.
THE ROLE
As a Locum Consultant you will assume full clinical responsibility for patient care within your specialty, providing senior leadership to multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice in line with HSC Northern Ireland protocols and GMC Good Medical Practice guidelines. You will supervise and support junior medical staff, participate in MDT meetings, contribute to clinical governance activities, and maintain clear and accurate clinical documentation throughout your engagement.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Candidates must hold full GMC registration that is current, active and in good standing at the time of appointment, along with a primary medical qualification of MB BCh or equivalent. Appointment is conditional upon inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in the relevant specialty, with a CCT, CESR or equivalent equivalence recognised. Candidates must be able to demonstrate substantial experience at Consultant or senior Specialty Registrar level within the NHS or HSC, and must hold valid medical indemnity insurance through a recognised provider such as MDU, MPS or MDDUS. A minimum of two professional references covering the last three years will be required, with at least one reference from a current or most recent substantive or locum Consultant post. All candidates must hold the Right to Work in the United Kingdom and provide occupational health clearance including evidence of Hepatitis B immunity, HIV status and TB screening in accordance with HSC Northern Ireland requirements.

IMPORTANT
All positions are based on-site at HSC Northern Ireland hospital sites. Candidates must be based in Northern Ireland or be willing and available to travel to Northern Ireland for shift commitments. Shift patterns vary by specialty and site and will be confirmed in full at the point of offer.
