The University of Edinburgh is a world-class organisation. We look for the best in the field across all disciplines and provide a working environment where academics can develop their careers and passion for their chosen subject area. We offer the full range of academic roles and have a genuine focus on our students performance and wellbeing.
The Bigger Laboratory uses a multidisciplinary approach to investigate the pathology of neurological diseases and to develop novel stem cell and gene therapies for these diseases; including lysosomal storage diseases and brain tumours. Over the past 15 years we have made significant contributions to the diagnosis, pathology and treatment of neurological diseases. We also have close links with charities and patient organisations in the diseases that we work on. The laboratory fosters a culture of clinical and translational research as reflected by collaborations with national and international research groups in the field.
We are looking for a Research Project Manager (maternity cover) within the Bigger laboratory focused on developing gene therapy programmes for neurodegenerative lysosomal diseases.
The post holder will be responsible for:
1. Writing and preparing preclinical and clinical trial regulatory documentation to support the initiation of a stem cell gene therapy clinical trial
2. Managing a Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) facility at the IRR to support ongoing clinical trials
3. Coordinating and contributing to ongoing translational and clinical grant applications
4. Ensuring the smooth running of the laboratory’s research projects, including financial management and funder reporting
5. Leading interactions with funders, international collaborators, patient advocates and regulatory authorities
The post holder will provide day-to-day project management support, coordinating project administration through all stages of the research life cycle. You will be responsible for ensuring deliverables and milestones are met on time and within budget. You will need to work effectively across complex research organisations, be able to take initiative where necessary and identify and breakdown tasks as required to achieve objectives.
