About the Company:
A leading national civil engineering contractor, known for delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, is seeking a Planning Manager to join their Pre-Construction Planning team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects from the very start, ensuring efficient planning and programme delivery.
Role Overview:
The Planning Manager will play a crucial role in developing and submitting comprehensive tender programmes for major civil engineering projects. Reporting to the Head of Planning, this role involves close collaboration with the project team and external stakeholders to ensure that all plans align with project requirements, health and safety regulations, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the creation and development of tender programmes, ensuring they meet all contract and works information requirements
*
Present and communicate the proposed plan to all project stakeholders, including external partners
*
Ensure the plan includes adequate provisions for safe working methods and timely project delivery
*
Identify potential risks to the programme, incorporating appropriate risk allowances into the plan
*
Contribute to the development of the tender risk and opportunity register
*
Gain approval from the bid and project teams for proposed methods, sequence, and timelines, using visual aids and detailed graphics
*
Work closely with suppliers to align proposed methods and sequencing with project requirements
*
Support the bid team in evaluating supply chain quotations and methodologies in relation to programme and delivery
*
Collaborate with the Estimating team to resource and cost load programmes and produce commercial forecasts where required
Skills and Experience:
*
Minimum of 10 years' post-graduation experience in civil engineering projects
*
Strong ability to analyse complex information and develop detailed, actionable plans
*
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
*
Proactive in contributing to the quality of bid submissions, particularly in programme and methodology areas
*
Experience with BIM and its application in civil engineering projects
*
Interest and openness to incorporating new technologies, including AI, into planning workflows
*
Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
